Abécédaire in Progress

7 & 8 May 2010
Points de Vue, Lyon

The making of “Yves Gévaert: Abécédaire in Progress”

We were invited to take part in Points de Vue, formes de l’edition contemporaine – an independent publishing fair in Lyon on 7 & 8 May 2010, organised by l’École supérieure d’art de Grenoble, l’École nationale des beaux-arts de Lyon, l’École supérieure d’art et design de Saint-Étienne and l’École régionale des beaux-arts de Valence.

The result was Yves Gévaert: Abécédaire in Progress which we produced on-site, with help from printer Cécile Mazoyet using the school’s proofing press (see images below). The booklet includes an interview with mythical independent Belgian publisher Yves Gevaert, which we conducted two weeks before the fair, as well as a complete list of his publications, and four photographs of his personal archive.

This first edition of 100 French-only copies forms the basis of a more complete, English translation to be published at a later stage. Very special thanks to Yves Gevaert without whom this publication would not have been possible. Additional thanks to Alexandru Balgiu, Pauline Hudek, Cécile Mazoyet and all the students who helped us producing the copies.
